Our day started at 7am this morning as we were going to try and get tickets to go up the Petronas Towers. It is about a 20 minute walk from our hostel but one of the guys that works here was on his way to his second job and gave us a lift down.
We arrived at 7.40am and the queue was already a hundred people long, they only issue 1500 tickets a day on a first come first served basis. At 8.30 they started to hand out tickets and we were allocated the 9.15 slot. The whole process is very controlled and once you are up on the 41st floor you get 10 minutes then have to leave.
The elevator shot up and made our ears pop, the skybridge is 170m up and the views are OK but considering that the towers are 452 metres high there is still a lot of building above you. Once our 10 minutes were up we were ushered back into the elevator and taken back down to earth at super fast speed.
This was not our last encounter with the Petronas Towers as we went down there again this evening to try and get a few night shots of it lit up. It really is a beautiful building and looks really majestic at night time.
Our afternoon in between the Petronas visits was taken up by planning our route up as far as Bangkok and looking for some places to stay. A total contrast from yesterday when we could not seem to get anything going our way but that is the fun and challenge of travel and being on the move. Tomorrow we take the bus up to the Cameron Highlands which should be fun as it is wet season we could have a lot of rain in the hills and also this is where they grow a lot of tea so we are hoping to visit a tea plantation and see how the whole process works.
Must go and get our sleep as we have a big scrabble match planned tomorrow with some friends and need to rest our brains!!!!
Lots of Love
M & M
