We arrived in Curitiba after a 10 hours bus journey! And it was cold!
We headed for dinner and then an early night with all of our jumpers, fleeces and 3 blankets at the ready! The next day we took the scenic train journey to Paranagua which descends steep mountains to the coastal lowlands passing through 13 tunnels and crossing 67 bridges along the way. The day was a little dreary so we couldn't see very far and the clouds were covering the mountains and trees but it was still beautiful. We reached an altitude of 900m, meaning that the clouds were often below us! The journey took about 3.5 hours and was reasonably pleasant, until the school trip that descended into our car! Bloody kids!
We took the bus back to Curitiba and had a look around the city which was really nice, particularly the market that sold mulled wine and stawberries smothered in melted chocolate! mmmm! (we won't mention that we had two helpings each!). That night we took yet another bus, 12 hours, back to Rio de Janeiro.
