Day 11 - Hollywood/San Diego
The day starts nice and early as we have to check out by 10AM, after showers and last minute packing we head out to find the coach station which is about 15/20 minute walk away. We find it no problem and soon we have our tickets and are on our way to Los Angeles (the 1st stop of our coach) There's us 2 Irish girls and the rest are mexican heading down towards Tijuana.
As we pull into LA the World cup final is about to start so i managed to catch about the 1st 30 mins before we have to board the coach again. The journey is ok Rhona does her usual trick of nodding off and catches some flies while i'm left awake luckily there was free Wi-Fi on the coach so my iPhone kept me company.
After about 2 hours 30 mins we arrive in sunny San Diego, not a cloud in the Blue sky and the sun was blazing. We hop in a taxi and head a couple blocks to the new hostel (Lucky D's) it appears to be owned by a nice American lady but with lots of Brits running it. It's very busy compared to the last couple places lots of young folk running around everywhere music playing etc (my kinda place) Anyways we do the usual of throwing our bags in and heading out to explore the new city. 1st impressions are it's ace, very clean, modern, lots of bars, shops, cool Spanish influenced architecture everywhere & even the bums are polite and say good Morning/Afternoon and don't ask you for spare change .. quality!
The Gaslamp district (the cool place we're staying in) Is like a cool Northern Quarter .. as in it's full of artistic types cool little 1 off shops/bars everything the Northern Quarter tries to be ..
As we're walking round it gets hotter and we do the typical California thing and get some frozen yoghurt (they're mad for that stuff here it's everywhere!) As we're sat in the window we notice the bar opposite is very loud and we realise the Spanish are everywhere here spain flags, kits, face painters even cars constantly beeping horns shouting YEAH WOO!!! every 2 seconds .. i was a little jealous it wasn't England but i never expected it to be! Anyways we head off for a walk around the outdoor mall they have here pick up a few bits n bobs and then as it had been a long day grabbed some beers and crisp and headed back home for an easy night as we're off to San Diego Zoo tomorrow (Rhona is way more excited about this than i am!)....
