Monday morning was spent getting our stuff together for the journey to Mancora. We packed up our stuff into our bags and walked along to one of the casinos nearby where we hitched a taxi to the Cruz Del Sur bus station.
Catching the bus was pretty straightforward and we had again booked into VIP seating so settled back for the 17 and a half hour journey to Mancora. In all fairness, the journey was pretty good and even I managed to get quite a bit of sleep. We both watched a few films, even thought these were the same as the disastrous trip from Cusco to Lima.
We arrived in Mancora at about 9am, so it had infact been a 20 hour journey but we weren't complaining. We had been advised by the woman we were renting our house off that a taxi would be waiting for us and indeed he was. The only issue was that he was a tuk-tuk which would be our first experience of the trip. It was fine and he got us to our house despite some very dodgy roads.
Our first impressions of the house we have rented for the week is that it's great. The views from the terrace over the Pacific are amazing which is the most important feature to us. They also have cable tv so I may well be able to catch the Newcastle match on Saturday!!
After having quick showers, we decided to walk to Mancora along the beach to pick up some supplies for dinner and tea. It's about a 40 minute walk each way along a fabulous sandy beach which is the first beach we have been on since Copacabana in Rio. We found a couple of shops in Mancora and picked up some food as well as some beers and a bottle of Bacardi for Beth. I'm not sure if it will see the end of the night!!!! In all fairness, it was about £6.50 for the bottle of Bacardi, even I might start drinking it at those prices. We made the walk back and sat on the terrace for a while before I watched us get beat off Ze Germans.
So tonight has been spent cooking up some pasta and having a few drinks on the terrace whilst listening to the waves constantly crashing on the beach. I would have to say that we have never seen so many stars in the sky. There just seems to be so little other light in the sky that the stars shine so much. Overall, we are over the moon with where we are staying and it's pretty good to be back at a beach after crossing South America in 10 weeks.
