We both had quite a good sleep on Friday night, aided by the fan which we had in the room. After getting up, we went or breakfast in the restaurant at the hostel before I had a date with a very important football match. Chemo, the guy on reception at the hostel, kindly offered to put the game on the TV in the reception so we tried to make ourselves comfortable and settled down for the match. It was a bit weird watching it while people were checking in and out of the hostel but I don't really care as we won 2-1!!
After the game, we went for a wander around the lagoon before we were to go sand boarding at 4pm. The sand boarding was absolutely brilliant! We were taken to the dunes in a buggy which the driver thrashed up and down the dunes. At times we were in the air for a good few seconds after the driver put his foot down as we went over a hump. The actual sand boarding was great and we had quite a few go's. we decide from the outset that trying to stand would be too hard so we flew down our stomachs. I say flew but Beth tended to dig her feet into the sand to slow her down as she was a bit scared. We loved it and returned to the hostel covered in sand but having had a great day.
On Saturday night, we went out for a meal and managed to get a starter and a main each, a large beer for me an a sprite for Beth all for around £7.50. This gave us more money to have a drink with so we headed to a bar and had a couple of games of pool and then back to the hostel bar for a few more drinks. Here, we met up with two Australian couples who were on the sand boarding trip and had some crack with them before going to bed about midnight. The party obviously continued as we reckon the loud music didn't stop until 4am. Luckily as we'd had a few drinks we slept through most of it.
This morning we awoke to a power cut. We first noticed it at 7am when the fan went off. Beth started shouting at me for switching it off (she is the most grouchy person if someone disrupts her sleep) until I retorted that the power had went off. We went out for breakfast as our hostel had ran out of eggs then packed our stuff up an checked out. The power eventually came back on at about 12.30pm so we are just sat watching the clock until 6.30pm when we get a taxi to pick up our overnight bus to Arequipa. It's a 12 hour journey but we have had to go a bit more budget this time so our seats don't recline much.
Beth's been searching for an advent calendar with no luck over here so she says she will have to have a bar of chocolate a day to make up!! The simple response was no!!
