On our last day in Rotorua we went for a walk through Redwood forest which has several trails you can do. It took us about and hour and a half to get there so we decided to do the hour long walk before we trekked back to the hostel. Beth decided she knew a shortcut back to the hostel but she didn't. This meant that it took about two hours to get back to the hostel through what looked like Texas Chainsaw Massacre country. We made it back anyway. On Sunday night we had fish and chips before a quiet night in the hostel.

On Monday morning, we left Rotorua for Taupo. It was only and hour or so away so we were in Taupo by early afternoon. Beth had decided that she would do a skydive so we dropped her off before I went to the hostel to dump our stuff. Beth absolutely loved the skydive and I think the photos and video are pretty self explanatory. Needless to say, I didn't fancy it!! We then had a few beers in the hostel on Monday night but nothing too heavy with the Christmas festivities which were to come.

On Christmas Eve, we had a pretty easy day. We stocked up on supplies in the supermarket with plenty of chocolate and wine for Xmas day. We then went and played mini golf with a few others who we are spending Xmas with. Neither of us won but I did get a hole in one on the last hole which meant that I get a free game next time. We were all up for a night out so we had a good few drinks in the hostel bar until it closed then went to a club. We managed to get a few very drunk photos and we all had a great night.

So it's now Christmas Day in New Zealand and we have awoken with slight hangovers. Nothing much different from home there!!! The hostel is putting on a Christmas dinner for everyone so we are looking forward to that. I'm sure the rest of the day will be spent having a laugh with everyone from our hostel over a good few drinks. This will probably be followed by some drunken facetime / Skype later when it's Christmas Day in the UK.
