We were pleased we planned 2 days at Auggen as it gave us a restful morning although we took the hill challenge and walked up the hill behind the hotel . Continually amongst vines was a great walk and when we reached the top we wwere rewarded with a great view of the countryside
Late morning we set off for Breisach and had a drink by the Rhine. This city was flattened during the war and was rebuilt on the other side of the Rhine as Neuf Bresach A quick visit here put us in France so after a brief tour we crossed back to Germany and headed for the Kaiser Stuhl wine district We found a Wine Probe( wine tasting) and worked our way through their list Disaster struck when Lyndon could not find his wallet when it came time to pay. We knew that no pickpocket had got me again so we retraced our steps to the Petrol station the tourist bureau and to the Kiosk where we had a drink on the Rhine
You would not believe my relief when the lady here told me one of her customers had handed it in with the considerable amount of Euros we had just got . I am now under strict wallet control
Much relieved we continued our wine tour and found more whites but few reds that we liked. A rather hazardous journey up a hill led us to the coffee house that gave us a view to France and in particular the terraced slopes where they grow the vines
Tonight it is the local BBQ and tomorrow we start our final week that will be spent at a Chateau at Chalons En Champagne near Reims
My sister Jenny and husband leave on their trip tomorrow and if interested you can follow them on their blog

Anita and John Ok Lyndon time to put your money in your sock !!!! Get rid of the wallet it's just not 'doing it for you' or stop drinking wine so you remember what you are doing with your wallet !!! OR hand over the 'money control' to a trustworthy woman .... namely Marilyn! We are in Perth a beautiful 23 degrees still freezing in Adelaide so enjoying the sunshine. Carlton just flogged Bombers, Freeo leading Richmond 23 to 16 2nd quarter just started. Geelong flogged Saints by 42pts last night Ball tonight so will be checking Crows and Pies scores regularly on my phone ! Hooroo till next time Marilyn maybe you could carry the wallet in your bra... just a suggestion..... X
Kirsten Sounds wonderful. Looking forward to seeing you next weekend. we had a very cold weekend in Canbera. Took Bella to childcare this morning and she was desperate to tell everyone there about her holiday - the holiday room (of course!), having breakfast with Uncle Nicky, the kids museum (Questacon). I was worried she'd tell them the highlight was stopping at the chicken nuggets shop on the way home :-)
Jenny It seems amazing your holiday coming to an end but you have done a lot. I am sure you will enjoy your week in France. Yes Marilyn you need to be in charge of the wallet!!.
