Today travelling parts of the Wild Atlantic Way through the Connemara on to Donegal. Total distance about 300k. Took us about 9 hours. At times the roads were windy single lane roads with rock walls on either side, fantastic scenery though. We had to cut out some of the scenic drive to get to Donegal to stay the night. I will post some video of the roads to give you and idea of why the drive was so slow. Came across another Abbey that was worth a visit, Kylemore Abbey was built in the 1800s and is in a very picturesque location. It is now run by the Benedictine Nuns and is also a prestigious school. It has a Gothic church on the grounds dedicated to the original owners wife. The columns in the church are made of five different colours of marble sourced from five Irish counties .Arrived at Donegal thinking it was bigger than it actually is. Had dinner at a nice old pub across the road from the Donegal Castle. Since we are driving the Atlantic Way thought we would try some seafood. I love Australian mussels but the ones here are every bit as good.
