Hello!
Since my last blog i have been travelling south through new zealand. There is some fantastic country side to see and lots to do. When i reached a place called mercury bay i went sea kayaking. It was great to be in the water. We even stopped at Cathedral cove for hot chocolate. The following day we moved south again to Rotorua. It is here that the natural thermal springs exist and all the water is naturally heated so its warm. in the evening i went to see a maori concert. the people in the village performed their dances and songs for us and told us about the culture. When is was finished there was a feast. The mauri people cook all the food in holes in the ground useing hot stones to cook it. it was amazing. The following day was very long but exciting. We travelled to Waitomo where i did blackwater rafting. It is not like normal rafting, in fact it is more like tubing where you float in a rubber ring. First though i had to absail down into the cave and do a zip line in the dark. it was really good but i couldn't see a thing ahead. in the cave you could see thousands of glow worms. they look like little stars in the sky on a dark night. Probably the best bit was the climbing out at the end. i climbed through a water fall. it was tough but great fun. i felt like i had made a lot of personal achievements. The next day i set off to Taupo. A long drive but with lots of walks on the way. x
