Kate in Madrid
So this is the overview of the week so far:
Monday lunch - first for real awkward moment with the familia. So my senora had not too long ago found out that we eat grapefruit with a spoon. So when I asked for an orange, she gave it to me on a plate with a knife and fork. So, not really knowing exactly what I was supposed to do, I started cutting it in wedges, like you would a water melon. When I finally realized that this plan was not going to work, I manned up and asked Concha -
"So. . .how do you eat an orange with a knife and fork?"
And she said that you don't.
You eat it with your hands.
She just wasn't sure how I liked to eat it. So I started laughing at myself but - this is the worst part - no one laughed with me! So awkward. . .
But last night was the second water polo practice. It was fun- and funny - trying to understand what was going on. And tonight, there were 5 goalies in practice.
Guess what? We already have to write a short story for Cuento. Three pages. In Spanish. Tuesday.
And after literature class today:
Me: Does anyone know what just happened?
Everybody: Hah. No clue.
I'll tell you what happened. She said "fijaos" 26 times. Mr. Melton style. yessss
