Day 15 Fraser Island-Surfers Paradise

Another travel day. I forgot to mention earlier, each tour has a song we had a song called Shake it by Metro station, which is played every morning one the bus, no matter what time it is. was really strange they chose that because it became big in england jsut before i left and i heard it everyday on the radio at work..bit of a difference listening to it in Australia. anyway.. another 6-7 hour drive to surfers paradise, with a stop at a place called Noosa for a few hours, really nice place, quite posh, the alderly edge of the East coast..I coould live there! then off to Brisbane for 3 hours which was also cool we had a good walk round before getting back on the bus and down to Surfers paradise

Day 16 Surfers Paradise

After a deserved morning off and more importantly a bit of a lie in we did a mountain trek in the afternoon with a guy called Ed (good name hey pops) he took us into the mountains a group of 8 and told us all about the rainforest. as it wasnt their rainy season and it was called there werent any snakes or lizards but loads of birds. We saw and heard the Liar bird (look it up on youtube with David Attenborough) debs you know what im talking about...it made amazing calls..we saw another one called the blue satin bower, which makes a little nest and then as the female is attracted to blue things it goes and collects anything blue, so bottle tops crisp packets etc and puts it round the nest. it looked like someone had dumped a pile of crap on the floor but it was some really impressive nature stuff! ed told us all about hunting and medicines used by aborigonal tribes and we did some really good walks under waterfalls and up the mountains. he also made incredible afternoon tea and the greatest ginger cake ever (second only to yours ofcourse, debs) and we sat and had that with 2 huge cookaboroughs (a really important and native australian bird) sat above us. it was a really cool afternoon. o and darren also had to give some girl a piggy back up the hill was very funny, again the picture needs to be shown. we also saw wild wallabies and allsorts of other stuff but im runnign out of time again!!

that night we went to a themed restaurant called draculas where you got a ghost train to your table and there were all sorts of weird cocktails and dressed up waiters. we watched a shower with out meal it was like a cabaret thing you see in america, funny though, then after that out to a club in surfers. out of time again! i'll carry on when i get chance
