Went to Balboa Park, and very impressive it was. Lots of gardens to see from rose gardens to desert ones. All in bloom, not bad for November. It is the USA's largest urban park. There are 15 museums and art galleries and performing arts venues, even a reproduction of the Old Globe Theatre. it also contains a Spanish Arts Village in which local artists can show their work.

The park was initially created in 1915-16 with the Panama-California Exposition. Most of the Spanish Renaissance buildings were constructed then. Others were built for the California Pacific International Exposition. There are 12,000 acres of gardens and a zoo.
