Lynda and Fred Travels
I skipped breakfast today... Went to play bridge with Lyn but no one there....instead we ran into Bill Paynter...Steve's brother...what a coincidence...Fred, Lyn and I had an hours visit with him...very interesting fellow...mostly talked about co-incidents in life...where we live, lived and going to live and who we knew in common. Fred and I had a spot of lunch and then off to see the play about Anne of Green Gables! It was a musical called Anne and Gilbert and it was fantastic! Great love story, great singing and great acting! Just beautiful. On the way there our tour guide took us through the history of Charlottetown. It was here in 1864 - 150 years ago that the Canadian federation took place. PEI was a wealthy province and wanted to remain part of England but they ran out of money building the railway and the Canadian PM and other governors came to Charlottetown to convince them to become part of the Canada confederation...they promised to pay off their debt...so it happened. As this is the 150 year celebration many events including reenactment of that meeting are taking place in the city! Small city with a boat harbour right at the dock and a boardwalk and shops running around the marina. I was not feeling good so went to bed...Fred went to dinner and comedy show!
