Woke up to heavy rain that wasn't letting up. Decided to brave it and wandered up and down Karon Town. Me and Rich got some prok and chicken kebab sticks for breakfast. My stomach felt dodgy the moment I finished the second one. Went to the beach, it actually had waves. So I wandered off an took a body board from an unattended stall and we spent the afternoon playing in the sea. Me and Coops built a sand caslte, turned out its the s***test sand castle ever made, it collapsed while we were still building it! Spent a little more time doing Hoff runs into the sea and seeing how far we could get before we stacked it on our face. Had a good day considering the weather was complete s***e. Spent the evening watching TV shows on through the iPod on the TV in the room. The cable I got to do that is the most frustrating thing ever, one time it might work and then it just decides not to the next time, such a pain in the ass. Played a few card games and then just went to sleep.

Got up early to get the Taxi-Ferry to Koh Phi Phi. They had some awesome banana cake on the way, no one here has heard of the squeak test for cakes so I was ridiculed when I was squeezing cake in everyones ear saying listen, its well good cake its squelchy. Arrived at 10 and wandered to the other side of the island. Found a hostel with a 14 bed dorm room to stay at called The Rock. Dumped our stuff and went to the beach. Sun bathed and swam around a bit and ineveitably Pat got burned, this time it was his feet they looked so red! The tide had gone out really far by the afternoon so me and Rich had an epic frisby sesh on the flat beach. Went and grabbed a shower at the dorm, but unfortunately the water on the whole island smells of piss/chilli sauce so i stank more after the shower than before hand. Went out to eat, we all had pizza in a place where you can play pro evo for 100 baht an our. First pizza I've had in over a month, it was well good. Rich went to the toilet afterwards and came back with bog roll 2 large chunks of bog roll on his head, must've been a nasty one! Went to an irish pub to watch the Chelsea Liverpool match. I was tired and couldn't be arsed to watch the Arsenal game so, I went and sat with Helen and Coops in the coffee place opposite and listened to them talking absolute drivel. We decided to go back to the dorm and continued the conversation. It soon turned to the classic would you rathers, and it turns out that Helen thinks it would be cool to be black, I've got claw toes, Helen has no toes and Coops doesn't think it would be usefull to have hands where your knees are or a hand on your head instead of hair.

27/10/08

Got up early and went to the beach. Had a potatoe, cheese and chicken baguette, cheese round here is so expensive, its over a fiver for a tiny little block. Messed around in the sea for a bit, Helen and Coops were doing crazy sea races so I joined in. They involve spining round 360 each way twice with your feet out of the water, running 5 paces and doing a handstand, then doing the same again but with a cartwheel at the end. I clearly spanked both of them but was accused of cheating as usual. Had another breakfast, it came with a sausage that looked like a mushroom stalk, but it was really nice and very cheap. Went for a trek up the mountain on the east side of the island to a view point. It was really hot and sweaty and hard work to get there but totally worth it in the end. I think I got some good photos but cant be sure because I have to take them with my ear to the camera to listen for the shutter. Went back down the other side of the mountain along the path which suddenly turned into a jungle path, wet, slippery, overgrown and very steep. It was quite dangerous, Helen broke her flip flop just as she'd said she'd worn them in and attempted to fix it with a rubber band. There were loads of mozzies on the way down and we were all getting bitten loads. Finally got to the beach on the other side and went for a paddle. We saw loads of spikey sea urchins and after about 1 minute in the water Coops yelped out that she's been bitten by a fish so we all decided to get out and lay on the beach. Got a sea taxi back to the bay and met some new people when we got to the dorm, Thomas, Rachel and Matt. Went out that evening and Matt and Thomas came with us. Went to the Cancun bar first and watched some more fire spinning, we were really close to them this time, don't know how they do it because it gets really hot even when your a few metres away let alone spinning it millimetres from your face. Got charged 20 Baht to use the toilet, rip off! Went to the Tiger bar and sat down in front of a Thai Boxing ring that was in the middle of the bar. There were friends going up and having a go, looked like good fun, so i asked Pat or Rich if they fancied it, they declined. Suprisingly, Matt, who i'd met a few hours ago was up fot it. When we got in the ring the ref explained the rules to me 'No knees, no elbows'. Ok i thought, sounds pretty simple, and away we went. Don't really remember much of the fight other than each of us asking if the other was OK before another punch was thrown, quite funny really. A weird way to make a friend, trying to beat the s*** out of each other, but we both really enjoyed it. Its very tiring and the gloves and hat they put on us stank of sweat.

Woke up early and could still smell the sweat on my hands and all over my face so thought I'd better shower it off in some of the piss from the showers. We decided to book a trip around the local islands on a longtail boat to do some snorkeling, Matt and Rachel came with us. First stop was monkey beach, the monkeys here were quite fat because its such a touristy area, there were loads of boats at the beach and people constantly feeding them bananas. The boat the took us to Shark Point for some snorkeling. The moment I dived in and stuck my head under the water there were hundreds of fish everywhere, bright yellw and black fish swimming right up to my goggles. Saw Parrot Fish, Angel Fish one of those ones like dori from nemo, sea cucumbers clams, there were loads of different fish i dont know the names of. When you're unerwater all you can hear is fish nibbling at coral. As we were leaving Rich and Rachel were sick out the side of the boat it was really funny watching all the fish swarm around it and start nibbling at the chunks. We went to bamboo island for an hour, it has a really nice beach and we did a bit more snorkeling. We then went south of Phi Phi to Ma Ya Bay which is where the beach was filmed. It was a struggle getting to the bay because we had to walk across the coral, Pat fell over and cut his hand, me and helen bruised and cut our feet. When we got there it looked just like the setting for the beach when you look out of the bay. There was a rock that looked like a giant c*** and water was dripping from it. We played some more frisby before we headed back to the boat to watch the sun set. When we got back we ate at a really nice place, I only had the standard fried rice, Coops had a really nice looking pizza that had massaman curry as a topping. We all went back to the dorm and fell asleep early.

29/10/08

I woke up rediculously early, and couldn't get back to sleep so went to the beach and read my book for a few hours. Got there at 7 30 and noticed that there was loads of s*** all over the beach, the locals were there with brooms, rakes and baskets sweeping up all the crap from the beach. They did a really good job. Started to rain at about 11, just as the others got there, so went back to the dorm and played scrabble. Spent the rest of the afternoon playing cards and pool in the sports bar, i beat Pat 3:1 get in! Then later we joined in the pub quiz, it was a poor show of knowledge from me helen and matt. Pat was attempting to convince a rather drunk irish quiz master of the answer to a golf question. Pat was clearly right, and it was rather funny watching the quiz master attempt to explain what a snowman was. Got a pancake with an entire pineapple in it on the way home, awesome.

Rained pretty much all day, spent the day reading books in various bars and deciding where to go next. Also spent nearly 3 hours in this internet cafe because the internet over gets seriously affected by the weather. Ive just had to write this twice!!!
