We arrived at the Bus station and said goodbye to Gary Potter as he was heading south down to some Welsh place and then we met with a guy from hostel intonational who gave us the details for a place called Hostel Inn so we got a cab straight to the hostel. We went for a little walk around but it was a public holiday so the city was dead. When we got back to the hostel everyone was setting off to watch River play football so we also went along. After we picked everyone up from there hostels we went to a chirizo bar and they put on a free raffle in which you could win a River football shirt, we didn't win but was still good fun! We then headed for the stadium and we were in the singing stand so had to join what felt like a chicken pen full of locals hard on drugs lol! It was so scary and thank god for our tour guide as they were trying to steal sunglasses of our heads and constantly trying to put there hands in our pockets but Mr Bean our tour guide saved us and shouted at them in Spanish and god knows what he said but they listened! When we got in the stadium it was a lot safer and the atmosphere was amazing the crowd sang from beginning to end but it finished 0-0! Coming out of the stadium was also safer and we got home in one piece and with all our belongings and had a very good evening.
The next day we went on a walking tour of BA for three hours and learnt the history of Argentina. We visited the pink house, detention centres, Evitas work place and where her body was before the military stole it and a historic mansion. So interesting! We also walked past many protests on the way which is apparently normal for Argentina. That evening we arranged to meet a girl named Gina who we met at Iguazu and she lived in BA and was taking us to a local Tango class. This place was amazing it was like an old attic with all the old belongings attached to the walls and some fairy lights. The class was very hard but we gave it a go and then when it got very hard we sat down and left it to the professionals.
The following day we took a bus to a neighbourhood called Recoleta to visit Evitas tomb. The cemetery contained hundreds of tombs from the very rich and you could see in many of them it was very eery!! We also met with a group of people that were in BA filming total wipeout and were in the final. That evening with Mark from Holland and Pascal from Germany two guys we met in the hostel we went on a pub crawl in Palermo. On the slip we were given it said meet next to the Fountain in Palermo and we thought this was a meeting place but it was where the pub crawl starts so we were given ten boxes of pizza, a crate of beer and some bottles of wine whilst more people turned up. It was freezing! We then got taken to numerous bars and then a bus to a club and it was a very good night meeting some really nice people.
The next day we had a huge hangover and had to get up early to checkout of this hostel as we were moving onto a new hostel in Palermo called Tango Backpackers. That afternoon Luke was taking part in a five a side football match with Mark and Pascal. I sat and watched on the bench from the outside of the caged pitch but two matches in I had to step in and grab Luke and take him for a walk to calm him down as he wanted to fight the other team and the ref! But he calmed down and just watched the rest of the matches. He has way too much passion for football! That evening we went for dinner with Jason and Ben who we met in Salta and Iguazu and then we all went to Ginas and Kates for a house party and this is when the other football team from today turned up! But they all shook hands and made up over a beer, thank god!!
We ended up getting in at half 4 the next morning! But we dragged ourselves out of bed as we still had some bits we wanted to see before we left BA like a book shop that was previously a theatre and we also went to see Pablo a friend we met at the party, carry out his training. This was so scary they were fighting with real swords and knifes! But was amazing and he is a real life bounty hunter and an amphibian task force.
That evening we went to see a show called Fuerza Bruta and it was so good by far the best show we have ever seen!
The next day we got on a bus from BA to Mendoza and this was a 13 hour journey arriving in Mendoza around 8.30am.
