Date: 13th May 2011 Place: Patong, Phuket Weather: Sunny and really really hot Woke up fairly early today considering I went out the night before. I was writing my blog for the previous few days when I started writing about the Starbucks we had and remembered they had a happy hour on today when frappucinos were half price! We made sure we got up and got there for then! On the way down we bumped into Neils who had apparently lost his way back to the hotel so had done a bit of shopping whilst wondering around. The frappucino tasted even better because it cost half as much. I then was a piggy and had breakfast when we saw Simon and Aimee sitting in a restaurant on the way back to the hotel. Today we had decided to hit the jet skis!! Aimee, Simon, Neils and I hired a jet ski each for 40 minutes. At first I was super nervous because I didn't want to have to pay for any damage on a jet ski like I did with the bike; little did I know at the time that it was Friday the 13th!! After nervously getting over the waves at the beginning I started to go a bit faster and absolutely loved it!! The 40 minutes flew by though, wish we had like a whole afternoon. We then relaxed on the beach getting covered in sand. I went in the sea and had to make a lot of effort to jump over the waves because they were a lot taller than me! But it was a great day, and probably our last for a while at a beach. That evening we went to look for some proper food since you get a bit sick of sitting in plastic chairs and having instant cheap food thrown at you. All the Thais that work in those sorts of places are on the streets and try to get you to come in by shouting across the road and things like that. When we didn't go into one of them though the man shouted 'f*ck you man' which I couldn't believe!!! We found somewhere awesome in the end though. It looked super posh but we thought we would chance looking at the menu to see the prices and they weren't actually bad. I had an awesome Fettuccini Carbonara which is my first pasta dish since being out here. Oh my it was good! After filling our faces we decided to go and see what film was on the TV since there always seems to be really strange, and mostly gory, films on the only English, non news channel. The one time we wanted a film there wasn't one!!! I started falling asleep anyway, the meal had really worn me out

Gran Ye gods...more hair-raising activities. A lot for parents (and grandparents) to worry about... You're a lot braver than me Lucy! Wonder if the swearing man was actually Thai, because they seem such friendly people and his behaviour definitely wasn't. Good to read you'd had some "proper" food.
