We had a good lie in today to catch up with ourselves from all the travelling and early starts! We didn't leave the bungalows and have breakfast until about 1pm! The plan was then to find out if camping on Maya Bay where they filmed The Beach was any good. A couple of girls we had met by the pool yesterday had gone that night so we went to ask them what they thought. It sounded awesome so we booked it straight away!!
Next to our guesthouse was a sign for a viewpoint which we thought would be good to go too. It turned out that the little walk we were expecting was a full day trek! We got to the first view point by going up about a million stairs and then found a sign for view point 2. Aimee and I went on to it, leaving Carmen and Shivorn behind. It turned out that part wasn't too bad but when we saw a sign for view point 3 we thought we had to do it! The views from these view points were amazing by the way; we could see the whole island!
On our way to viewpoint 3 we saw a sign saying a beach resort which we really fancied at the time. Thinking it wasn't too far away we head into the jungle for a lovely trek which ended up being a lot tougher than expected! When we finally got there though it was sooo worth it!
The beach was amazing and there were only a few people staying there so it was really empty. The sea was ridiculously clear and the fish would swim right around your feet. One was protecting some babies I think and actually kept swimming in front of me when I tried to get in the sea and actually hit Aimee as she walked past.
Before heading back through the jungle we sat and watched a crab go in and out of a hole, chucking sand over his shoulder as he went. It never got old. The walk back didn't seem as bad as the one there but because my feet were so hot my flip flops kept slipping off and the fronts came out. I ended up walking back barefoot.
When we got back we didn't know where the other two were so just went to have a shower before heading down to a salon so Aimee could get her first ever bikini wax! She said it wasn't as bad as she thought and I didn't hear any screaming so it was all ok.
When the girls finally showed up at the bungalows we decided to head down to a place called Padys to have dinner. It was an Irish bar which was recommended by the lonely planet. We had a great dinner before heading back to the bungalows and chilling out on one of the balconies before crashing out.

Gran WHAT a trek! Sounded as if hiking boots were needed, ne'er mind flip-flops and bare feet! Your feet must be a LOT tougher than mine. The effort seemed well worthwhile anyway.
