Date: 28th April 2011
Place: Koh Tao
Weather: sunny and hot
I didn't need to get up as early as other people today because everyone in my room was doing a diving course. Since I couldn't really do much but sit around on this island I thought I may as well have a slow morning and get a bit of washing done.
I then went up into the streets to find a clinic to clean my leg and on the way back I spotted Aimee and Vanessa having breakfast so went to sit with them and had a milkshake.
We decided that day that we wanted to go to a turtle beach which I think Aimee had just made up somehow as there was no such thing and the whole island is called turtle island (Tao=Turtle). So instead we went to an amazing little island just off the main island called Nang Yuen or something like that.
We got a taxi boat there and I got a personal piggy back by the driver to the boat since I couldn't go in the water! The island was absolutely stunning and the water clearer than I have ever seen it in my life (yes mum I was thinking of you!). I chilled out and finished my book whilst the girls were snorkelling and Aimee actually saw a reef shark! Apparently Jess just saw her suddenly scatter.
Once we got the taxi boat back we went on a little bar that comes out at night just outside our hotel. Its actually a boat that they call Sea Bar and everyone just comes up and chills on and around the little boat. We watched the sun set from there and then headed in to get ready for a meal out.
A couple of girls we had met told us about a great restaurant to go to which was just up the beach. We all went there that evening and it was as lovely as they said. We all sat on the floor cushions like before and there were fairly lights all in trees which gave it such a nice atmosphere. The thing we all got most excited about though were the toilets. Its very rare to find decent toilets in Thailand but these were gorgeous!!
Once the meal was over we walked up to crazy pancake mans stall who makes pancakes ridiculously quickly. Carmen and Neils got one each which I tried a bit of a and they were lovely. I then had another early night because I was just so tired from doing absolutely nothing.

Gran Lots of tongue-twisting names for you to master! Sounds so great to hop from one island to another, with suitable transport widely laid on. I'm very impressed by how many amenities there are... with exception of decent toilets! Aren't there any bacteria in the sea around Koh Tao? Going to the Sea Bar and then the beach restaurant sounded quite magical. Learning a lot from these blogs!
