Lucy's Travels
We have been in Auckland for a few days now. We headed 2 hours south to see the glow worms which was great. There were loads of them. We headed over 40metre's underground walking through these caves and then we got on a boat where all of the glow worms were. Penny's boyfriend, Soren, took the day off work for us which was really good of him and he drove us there. We had lunch in a tiny town - There was like one street you could tell it was a bit like Coronation Street...Everyone knowing everything about each other!!
Today I did the BUNGEE JUMP off of the Harbour Brigde!!! Yes, I am completely crazy and yes I am afraid of heights!! We walked across the bridge which took about 15 minutes then walked up some stairs. We were told we would be jumping 40 metres (We later found out that this was actually 47m!!) We jumped in weight order so I had to weight until about 6 people had jumped before I could... I was feeling really sick watching the others!
It was finally my turn and they tied me to what they needed to and asked me to walk forward (it reminded me of walking the plank because it was literally a plank!!) I walked forward and the countdown started...5,4,3,2,1 and I couldnt jump! The guy behind me did another countdown, his hand firmly on my back this time and I jumped - Well more like I fell over the bridge!!! I screamed and screamed, opened my eyes to see the water directly below me, and screamed some more!! After 3/4 bounces I had to pull a rope from these leg warmer things and then I was sitting upright. I wedged my eyes open to try and admire the view but my mouth wouldnt stop screaming!!
There was a big boat who had just so happened to stop and watch me!! Maybe I wasn't the best person to watch?! They all gave me a round of applause which was nice.
Once at the top I was informed that it was the scream of the day!! I was shaking so much after the jump and my fear of heights has just increased... A great experience but wont be doing it again!!
