After a really good visit to San Francisco the next stop was Las Vegas. Well.....Las Vegas is another world, Disney Land for grown ups!!! The money that is present in that place is incredible!! All the lights along the strip.....every other car is a limo.....and then the amounts of money you see people gambling with, if I had had even one of their chips I could have paid for half of my whole trip!!! When you then see huge stacks of these chips piled up.....more money than sense!!
I stayed in the Luxor Hotel which is the huge pyramid with the light on top of it that can be seen from space. The inside of it is HUGE!!!!!! I had a room in the pyramid bit with a view of part of the strip which was pretty cool. Was a really nice hotel and positioned in a good location so was pleased with that.
My time in Vegas was spent mainly soaking up the atmosphere and visiting each casino. The insides of some of them, especially Caeser's Palace and The Venetian, are incredible. Both of these casinos have the ceiling painted to look like the sky so you feel as if you are outside. The Venetian has a St. Mark's Square inside and even a canal running through it you can do a gondola ride along! It's hard to comprehend just how big these places are until you get there! Amazing!
The Bellagio fountains are pretty spectacular. Every 15 minutes the fountains dance to a new song. Could stand there for ages just watching them. I also managed to get in a show whilst I was there. I went and saw the illusionist/magician Criss Angel and his show with the Cirque de Soleil. This was good, glad I got to go a show whilst I was there.
Also during my time in Vegas I visited the Grand Canyon, stopping at the Hoover Dam on the way. When I first arrived at the Canyon it was very windy and dusty so visibility wasn't great, but it cleared up later on and it was a great view, an impressive sight. I did the Rim Sky Walk which is a glass bottom walkway 4000ft above the bottom of the canyon. Looking down all that way to the bottom of the canyon is an experience, some people refused to let go of the sides!!!
Overall, I really enjoyed Las Vegas. I didn't lose too much gambling either which was good (you also got free drinks whilst playing the slots so couldn't complain) :-)
Next stop.......Washington D.C.
