We winded our way down the buller gorge to arrive at Buller Adventure Tours which was just before Westport! Steph had signed up to do horse riding in here, whilst Claire and I were going for the extreme jetboat ride. Extreme it was, powering throught the valleys almost colliding head on with rocks...360 spins the lot! We got absoltely soaked, he also informed us about the history of the gorge to and recent flood levels etc! We then continued onto Westport, it wasn't the nicest of towns i'd visited so far, but the hostel was nice! With a room to ourselves, we nested a little then cooked some tea! I wasn't feeling the greatest, with the usual 'you've overdone it Laura' sore throat coming on! We headed into town for a few sociable drinks! We were warned to have a quiet night as the following night in Lake Mahinapua was going to be big! But of course, with our group a quiet night seemed to be impossible, the jaegurbombs began... I strongly rejected as was determined was going to recover ready for the next night! But yes the girls continued to party the night away, meeting the other drivers as we were joining with another bus to do an overload... I turned in fairly early with a few others whilst the girls rolled in about 5am after drinking at the drivers house- good work girls! :-) The next morning we departed Westport fairly early and adter a short drive we arrived at Cape Foulwind and Tauranga Bay! We walked along the coastline to one of NZ's largest Seal Colonies. It was one of the best walks i'd done so far with beutiful scenary along the coatline ended up at the seal colony where we saw loads of seals on the rocks. We trhen departed to make our way to Lake Mahinapua, our next destination!
