Lovewells vs The World
The next day was Sunday and we were heading to Wanaka and it was very wet when we left Christchurch. We stopped at riccarton bush for our next kiwi guardians challenge. The bush was a wonderful place with lots of cheering chirping birds, and amazing curly vines. It had lots of tall kahikatea trees. We saw lots of native wildlife because it was protected by a huge predator fence. We found the kg plaque and earned another medal!
We carried on our journey and stopped at Lake Tekapo to play mini golf...except the mini golf was gone! So we went for a walk over the flash new footbridge instead. It is very different there now. We bought some lunch for the car and headed on to the Lindis Pass. We saw heaps of Hawks hovering, looking for prey in the tussock grass. No snow though, and Mount Cook was hidden by low cloud.
We listened to Swiss Family Robinson and we all enjoyed the story of their adventures. We enjoyed seeing the turquoise lakes and rivers on the way. We arrived in Wanaka ( Lake Hawea actually) at 4 o'clock.
We had great fun playing in Jan and Laura's amazingly huge garden, we ran around, and played cricket and badminton. Laura did a treasure hunt for us and we found lots of things in the garden, including skink houses and bird feeders, then our final prize...lollies! After dinner we snuck back into the garden and played frisbee with our glow in the dark frisbee. When we finally went to bed we slept super well because it s so dark and quiet there.
