Lovewells vs The World
We bounced out of bed and stuffed down a quick breakfast before jumping in the car and heading off to the ferry. Even that was exciting as we came across a car driving the wrong way up Paremata road!
The ferry trip was super smooth, you hardly knew the boat was moving, and we didn't get blown away on deck for once. Gemma and Dad watched Finding Dory at the movies, while mum and Daniel walked around the whole ship about 6 times, after Daniel got a bit hot on the playground! Then we devoured delicious scones with jam and cream. We went up on deck to see the beautiful Marlborough sounds, and were treated to a display from 3 playful Dolphins.
We rolled off the boat and started our journey to Christchurch. We stopped in Blenheim to do our first kiwi guardians challenge, where we searched in a park for a plaque. In the end the plaque was missing, but instead we got to explore an old flax mill, and some cool poetry boulders. There were lots of dogs playing in the stream. We earned our first "KG" medal!
On the Kaikoura coast we saw heaps of seals. We read and drew and listened to music. When we got to Sumner we were amazed to see the town was still a mess from the big earthquake 5 years ago. We saw the bell tower that no longer has a bell, lots of broken buildings near tumbled down cliffs, and Redcliffe school which is now not being closed. We had a big play on a cool playground beside the sea.
Our B and B was really flash, and had Sky tv. We went out for dinner to a place called Indmex, which was delicious! In fact Daniel said it was the best restaurant he had ever been to. We all slept like logs. In the morning we watched myth busters, and mum accidentally smashed her favourite glass bottle!
