Louise and Julia's Travels
We're in Rio now after enduring the 27 hour bus journey.
Our last day in Bonito was delightful. snorkelling down a river with clear water and a guide who felt the need to hold your hand all the time (even though we had life jackets on). we were surrounded by rainforest, so when you weren't looking eyeball to eyeball with loads of fish you could pop your head out and see the monkeys and toucans.
Since we have been in Rio the weather has been rubbish. everyone keeps telling us that they have never known as bad a stint as this. We have been up the sugar loaf mountain on cable cars. Sarah fouind this very scary and realised that handgliding from a mountain twice as high was definately out. We did a city tour where we went to the top of christ the redeemer, the maracana stadium, the street where vmost of the carnival is held and then saw the most hideous cathedral ever.
We have had a few nights out in Rio also, sampling cocktails at Copacobana palace and some clubs with live samba music. All good nights.
Were hoping to do a hand-glide this morning, but got all the way up there, Loiuse also had some pyschological counselling and then the professionals called it off due to the weather. Gutted. Did some shopping instead and sam just had to swim in the sea (even if it was almost raining).
An emotional departure now awaits us. Sam and Sarah fly home whilst Jules and Louise have a few more days in Rio.
Farewell, its been fantastic.
Sam and Sarah
