So a few nice days of weather ahead and we decide to find the nearest decent beach. We get set for the 9:30 bus, water purchased from the local shop and bus tickets from the newsagents ... 45 minutes later as we disembark at the station we see another bus parked loading with locals packed for a day at the seaside so we followed and jumped aboard ( luckily we had our return tickets to use.... A 1euro ticket takes you on any bus for one stop or 50, as in our case to get to the village up the mountain! The transport is what it is, does a job, but wow cheap public transport is just so amazing!!!)
5 minutes later and a journey straight out of the wacky races as its practically a 60 degrees windy road straight down the cliff face!! We arrive in a cove, sandy beach and clear waters. Many locals take a boat to the next cove along but we decide to hire our beds and start getting busy doing nothing...... Local beach restaurant for lunch, snooze and the the return journey. We now know the bus starts at the station and completes a circular trip through the mountains going either up the right side or left.... We have been getting the longest route round most of the time but today thanks to a lovely lady we manage to get the left side bus so are back in no time....well 30mins!!
By the time we return the town had been transformed...dressed up in pink as tonight was the local 'night of the rose' We got back got set and headed out......9pm yes 9pm the stalls were starting to be set up and half an hour later there were hundreds of people filling the streets. It was crazy everyone was there, all ages. For about several hours everyone drank, danced, ate, bought Spider-Man balloons for the kids and purchased the random items from the shops (many of the items had been there years). We filled our boots on the tomato bread and mozzarella paninis and then a strange concoction of pizza dough fried and then tossed in sugar (their take on doughnuts). We then stood and just watched opened mouthed at the rave which was happening at the local bar attended by 7year olds to 70!!! It was a right 'propa rave' with duo DJ's and an MC!!! A brilliant end to a long day....
