Today we cruised Lake Como, from Como to Veronna.... Now this lake is biiiiiiiiig! 2hrs 30 mins to get there. In between the people watching and taking in the view, I (Louise)took a 20 min snooze!!! Whilst Sarah was busy doodling in her journal!!!
On arriving to Veronna, which in the guide books states that it is considered the most beautiful place on the lake; we searched for the tourist information area. On the way we wandered along narrow walk ways with steep alleys leading to the higher area of the Town. We decided after studying the map and places of interest that an hour circular walk taking in the Castle would be our choice. The walk there took about 40 minutes up hill (we are talking a 60 degree incline!!) We arrive at the peak.... Beautiful castle ruins and absolutely amazing views, check out the photos!!
The walk back down was of course easier and quicker, with about an hour to kill before catching the return boat we rewarded ourselves with panini and red wine!!
The boat on the way home (Como) was as large as a Dover to Calais ferry and we decided to sit indoors out of the sun and to our delight there were leather couches. Hastened to add we quickly nodded off after our adventure.
"Okay then folks if you leave your head phones on you will still be able to hear the commentary....." Was the prompt for me to wake up. A tour guide and a group of American tourists broke our snooze! After that we had a free guide commentary to the history and facts of Lake Como; including where George Clooney's Villa was (photo attached), Versaces ex estate with chapel ( john legend just wed there apparently ) villa oceans 12 was shot at and that the Lake is over one mile deep at its deepest part ( no photo of that!!).
We returned to the hostel at 6.40 to shower and then eat the most delicious 3 course meal including drink for 12€ each.
