Today we left our hostel in Boston and, luggage in tow, boarded the whale watching boat. It was a gorgeous gorgeous day, the sun finally came out for us in Boston.
We rushed onto the boat (with our luggage), and got a great spot on the front of the catamaran, hoping today the boat would go, and not have to turn around. It did go! And it was worth the wait. First thing we saw were sharks... huge sharks... then whales. We were lucky enough for something to happen that doesn't happen very often. A whale jumped out of the water right in front of us - probably 30 feet away. It was exhilarating seeing these animals in their natural habitat. We watched the whales for about an hour, and then two other sharks turned up right alongside where were standing... Can't get over their size!!
When we got back to Boston we caught a bus to Hyannis. We stopped at Plymouth and Kerry rushed off the bus thinking it was our stop. Her luggage had been unloaded as she nodded when the driver asked if she was getting off at Plymouth. No wonder this girl finds herself in all sorts of situations.
When we checked in to our hotel we got very excited. Since Montreal we've had average hotels and hostels so felt like we were really being treated!
We got ready very quick and headed to the beach. I had a quick dip in the sea and joined Kerry on the beach. What wasn't fun was a bloody tourist boat passing by, with their binoculars - clearly on a whale watching trip - pointing at us... 'A beluga and a humpback' . Yes ok it was me and Kerry in our costumes. Kerry thought it would be funny to act like a whale and do a 360 degree flip, bang as she hit the sand. Then she saw a guy sitting in his car watching every move she made, and laughing.
We left the beach around 7pm and went for dinners Kerry had lobster and had to eat it with a bib - because she's like that.
It's a shame we are only here for such a short time as it's lovely. Beautiful quaint harbour, nice little beach and cute hotels. This is my scene completely. So calming.
We leave at noon tomorrow and head back to the big smoke!
