Left the caves today on a bus to Hue. Some of the sights along the road were priceless...there were pot holes as big as cars, piles of logs sticking out into the road, buffalo, thousands of scooters, one even piled high with mattresses and chickens roaming the streets.
Currently travelling all the way to Hoi An with some new friends I made at Phong Nha - Merve, Vince and Nick.
Went to the DMZ line which is where North Vietnam meets south. Visited the Vinh Moc tunnels which are close to here. In the war about 350 people lived in the tunnels, they had a maternity room, a meeting room and lots of smaller rooms off the main tunnel. This area got heavily bombed during the war and you can see the bomb craters as you walk around the site.
Arrived in Hue - old quaint town. In the centre there's a citadel which is where the Emperor had a palace in 1800s. Very oriental in design. Very peaceful especially considering you're in centre of a city.
That evening the four of us and a girl called Ashley from New Jersey who we also met in Phong Nha went to a local club called Brown Eyes. They had two horrific DJs and I was the tallest person in there apart from one other foreigner but two for one cocktails...no complaints!!
