The Road to Hoi An - the four of us booked a taxi to take us from Hue to Hoi An as there are apparently things to see en route which you wouldn't see if you went by bus.
First stop was a gorgeous secluded waterfall, followed by a stop at Lang Co beach. Very touristy there - lots of Chinese tourists on organised holidays. The actual beach itself was really pretty - we stopped up a hill to look down on it.
Following this we stopped at a place where the Americans had some of their bunkers - high on a hill overlooking the sea in one direction and the river on the other. This place was full of tourists and the locals knew this so followed you around the baskets of bracelets and souvenirs. They also had learnt a lot if English and were quite direct in their questions - I got asked if I was married quite a few times and if the four of us were friends. However I think their interpretation of the word friend is different to ours so by the time we headed back to the taxi the four of us were coupled off and ready to be married by these Vietnamese women!!
Our final stop was Marble Mountain - we climbed to the top where there was a pagoda and some awesome views.
Arrived in Hoi An about 3pm where we stayed in the Sunflower hotel with a pool and finally it was warm and the sun was shining! We had reached the south at last :-)
Went for an explore and ended up on a boat on the river drinking beer from a bowl with one solitary ice cube in it. Bit worried the contents of the bowl were the dregs of others' pints!
Visited the Japanese bridge and a few other typical Vietnamese buildings/traditional houses. Hoi An is full of tailors and shoe makers. Had the most amazing Vietnamese food in the restaurant next door to the Sunflower Hotel. Happy days!!
