Hungover we decided the only thing to cute our headaches was to rent bikes and cycle to Angkor Wat in the 30degree heat....
We paid $3 per bike for the whole day - unreal! We cycled the 8km to the entrance and did the short loop around the park. We visited Ta Phrom - the temple used in the filming of Tomb Raider. There were tonnes of awesome trees growing through and around the stonework of the temples.
Tried to make it to Phnom Bakeng for sunset but we left too late - we were cycling forever it seemed and my rendition of the Sound of Music songs turned into moans of 'are we nearly there yet?' The cycle back to Siem Reap was the scariest. We had to avoid trucks, buses, tuktuks and motorbikes on roads which seem to have no rules. At intersections it's a free for all which is not fun on a bicycle. Had a few pretty hairy moments but we made it back safely thank goodness.
The following day we chilled out on Pub Street playing cards and eating ice cream before getting a tuktuk to see sunset at Phnom Bakeng. They were annoyingly picky about clothes and I stupidly wore shorts which were apparently too short. Tom ventured up to the temple on his own to get some photos.
We then went to the bus stop to get an overnight sleeper bus to Sihanoukville - to our surprise instead of the individual pods we had in Vietnam we had a double bed....thank god I was with Tom and not on my own next to some random strange man. The journey was extremely bumpy - only an arm rest to keep me on the bed. One of the worst journeys!
