We got picked up by a tuktuk at 4.45am. Arrived at Angkor Wat in the pitch black - there are no lights there! We followed the crowds and sat at the edge of a lake waiting for the sun to rise hoping we were looking in the right direction!
We had breakfast by the lake after looking around the temple. Two little Cambodian boys came to talk to us - they were trying to sell us postcards but we just got them chatting and their English was amazing. They were so cute - asked to play on Tom's phone. There's a photo of them in the album.
Following Angkor Wat we travelled in the tuktuk to Bayon - a temple covered in carved faces. We visited another few temples during the day before heading back about 3pm absolutely shattered from climbing up and down rocks and temples!
Headed out to Pub Street where we noticed a stall selling fried insects, including tarantulas. Tom couldn't resist and after standing there contemplating it for a while (and seeing a local lady with a baby buy some crickets and beetles!) he dived in. Took me guts to even hold the thing - it was dead for god's sake!
Partied in a bar called Angkor What? with Momchil and a guy called Jeremy from Canada. Buckets, free t-shirts and dancing in the streets. Left about 1am, tucked myself up in bed, 5 min later Pervez returned with a girl and proceeded to be rather loud in the ed next to mine. Luckily I had Justin Timberlake for company, thank goodness for earphones! I so love staying in dorm rooms...
