On The Road with Lou!
Due to the heroic nature of yesterdays epic ride I started today only 79 miles from DC.
I stopped at a wayside for a breather and forgot to latch shut my Pelican case. It flopped about when I left and my close-up map of DC blew out by the time I realized it, so I was flying blind by the time I got to the Washington area.
Face with the option of 17 exits off the Interstate I did what I always do when presented with a large list and no information, I picked number 3. That put me on the George Washington Parkway. A little later I was presented with the option for numerous bridges, again picking number three I crossed the Potomac and ended up on Constitution Avenue, exactly where I wanted to be! I seriously could not have navigated any better if I had known where I was going!
The Smithsonian area is sandwiched between Constitution & Independence Avenues.
No missed exits, no one ways, no wrong way down the Interstate. It was a nice change!
From research I had done before departing I knew that the motel alley was east of Constitution Ave, I stopped at a gas station to confirm my heading, and drove straight into the Parking lot of the Days Inn.
There is a double-decker opened top shuttle bus that runs out of the motel district to the Smithsonian area so I think I’ll be parking the mighty Rocket3 for a well deserved rest for both him and my butt!
The day was so short I did not get a suitable photo op, so sadly there is no picture of the day today, however I am sure I will make up for that in the coming days.
Talk soon!
