A beer-lover's dream today as our journeys took us south of Munich to Kloster Andechs, home of a Benidictine monastery devoted to the production of fine beers since 1455. Set in the beautiful foothills of the Bavarian alps, Andechs is home to an amazing church and an equally amazing brewery that produces seven exceptional beers. Our visit was not without due penance as we walked for about an hour and a half from the train station to access the brewery. Without a doubt, this pilgrimage was well worth the toil. As the motto goes, Kloster Andechs is "a delight for the body and soul."
