This morning we were up and ready surprisingly early! We left the hostel just after 11.00am and walk along the main road back to the funicular at the other end of the city. We only had one brief stop at a market! Luckily the funicular was open and we quickly bought tickets and boarded. We made the short journey up the hill to spectacular views of the city and the snow-capped Andes in the distance. We walked up toward the statue of the Virgin Mary and after numerous photo opps and a brief look in the shop we headed back down the funicular. We wandered back through Barrio Bellavista and towards the Mercado Central, buying some earrings on the way!
We enjoyed our last meal with Bella (in Chile anyway!) and our last meal at the Mercado Central in the swanky Galleon restaurant, where we enjoyed free pisco sour and photos with the staff! Laura had a gorgeous Paila Marina (chnky fish stew) whilst sarah enjoyed a prawn and avocado cocktail, all weashed down with some fish shaped bread!
After our meal we started to make our way back to the hostel, doing a bit of shopping en-route. Once we were back in the hostel it was after 5.30pm and we decided to start packing our stuff up and getting ready for our meal with Jose (a contact of Uncle John´s). A taxi picked us up at 8.45pm and we were taken across town to meet Jose at a typical chilean restaurant. He was lovely and our meal was amazing, Gnochi for Laura and Crab Pie for Sarah, washed down with more pisco sour! After the meal we went to a local bar for a baileys coffee and very strong daiquiri (poor Sarah!) before a taxi took us home and to bed!
