Day 140
We decided to follow the Lonely Planet walking route around Kuala Lumpur (KL) CBD. Our first stop was Dataran Merdeka, which was built by the British and was originally a cricket field, today it is where National Parades are held. From here we walked past mosque; we couldn't go in as Lorna was not wearing a head scarf or have her ankles covered and Al couldn't go in as he had his ankle's showing too.
From the mosque we started our long walk to find some famous tiles, which was very disappointing once we found them. A few shops up Lorna brought a flower necklace for around 20p. We headed to the Central Market where we looked at the stalls and found one for foot treatments with a difference. They were Garra Rufa fish that ate the dead skin off your feet, as soon as Al put his feet in the water all the fish off 5 other customers came swimming along for the best feast they could ever have!
We then headed to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, we went inside and they were playing lots of music. There were so many shoes outside we wondered if our shoes would get stolen as we had to leave them outside.
Then we headed to the main market strip and Al hit all the market traders with his mean bartering skills to get our presents for family back home (and of course ourselves) at the best possible price. Our feet were hurting after all the shopping we did so we headed off for some reflexology, where they cracked every bone in our feet.
Lunch was one that we were not used to as we hit Hard Rock Cafe and had a 2 course meal, watched the Olympics and chatted away to our friendly waiter who was interested in how much we earnt.
We had missed the downpour of rain whilst we were eating and then walked to KL Tower, which is the 4th tallest in the world at 421m. As we arrived we were given gifts; Al was given a fan and Lorna was given a boiled egg on a stick. We also saw a healing therapy, whereby a man was having his blood sucked out of him like Gwynth Paltrow does using glass cups.
At the top of the KL Tower we took some photo's although not very clear as the city was very smoggy.
We headed to the market stalls where the best pashmina's were sold, so that we could buy our mum's presents. On our way back to the MRT we saw a traditional game of 'keep me up' but with a wicker ball.
