So its midnight, Friday Night.. Im in London.. The UK!! thats a whole nother country!! and what am I doing.. partyin it up.. no. movie premiere... no. musical... no. Sitting at home typing to you lovely folk on my laptop.. yes. thinking bout all the photos i should be posting, but cant be arsed to sort through... yes. but atleast im writing eh!
anyways, its been a while, so i thought id update y'all
We've been in Camden for a little over a month now, starting to make it feel like home and getting into a routine. I workout in Regents Park (gyms are so expensive here) and have seen many a places on the monopoly board, which has inspired me to start the monopoly challenge.. but more on that another day!! After much effort, I finally have ongoing work, starting Tuesday. Ive been doing the odd temp job, but im super psyched to have something permanent and what makes it better is the fact that its only a few minutes walk from home.. no super expensive public transport!! hells yea!! and the pay isnt great, but it def isnt bad either (there are many myths about london, the pay in london is one of them). the other plus side of getting a job is that i can finally start living it up in London Town and start saving for more travel!! yay!!
This weeks been pretty busy, since i have a job, i no longer have to spend all my time looking for work and can start spending a few pounds on tix and public transport. This week started off with a Hilltop Hoods gig (one of my fave aussie bands to see live)!! Hells yea!! was awesome!!! Tuesday we went to the Edwyn Collins art/cd launch, which was pretty good, its amazing to see how people can go through so much and still be so determined to achieve. Hes amazing! Thursday we tried to get free tix to a presets gig, however after our trek to the otherside of London, we found out they didnt have any of the 'we have so so many tickets left' tickets . The trip wasnt a total loss though, cause we saw Brick Lane, the indian part of london, def going back there for a good meal
plus they look like they have some awesome clothes stores. Today I won tickets to see Jaime Lidell and Yelle play at Kokos (Kokos are having a month of free music & I won tix!!
) and this weekend we're going to a free music thing with a few elliot smith type up and coming british bands.. which will be sweet.. plus £2 beers.. thats unheard of here!!
Unfortunately i didnt get to go to glastonbury on the weekend (lack of job equals lack of money to buy tix to these awesome events), however, because i now have work this weekend were buying tickets to Reading Festival (august) which is gonna be so sweet!!! 3 days of bands.. the line up is unheard of.. Rage against the machine, Metallica, the killers, queens of the stone age, slipnot, the subways, taking back sunday, tenacious d, dropkick murphys, less than jake, pennywise, floggin molly. I suggest you go to http://www.readingfestival.com/lineup/index.aspx so you can see the full line up and be fully jealous of me!!! metallica!!! can you believe it!! cant wait!! were also looking at booking oktoberfest in the next few weeks so that will be booked in and all we have to do is wait. Unfortunately due to the lack of work sitch, i was unable to arrange to go to La Tomatina :( which im sad about cause i really really really wanted to go.. plus side though, atleast i wont get tomato in my dreads (i was gonna wear an awesome showercap with rubber duckies printed on it, but im sure that wouldve come off.. so the dreads wouldve been a mess
- ps that emoticon was added cause its red.. as in tomatos.. as in all over me from the tomatofest.. )
speaking of dreads, im still having trouble finding someone who can maintain them properly over here .. umm were still beanbag-less (we dont have a couch, so we wanted bean bags).. its so difficult to find anything in london. Ridiculous! and we might hopefully be hooked up with a tv in the next couple of weeks. and when grocery shopping im starting to get used to the fact i have to look at the dates on bread.. no more stale bread for me!! its actually semi fresh when i get it home and snaps for me, i know everyone will be excited, i actually finished my first half loaf last week, i didnt have to throw it out cause it was stale and mouldy 3 days after buying it!!! 3 weeks till i get to see michael and im on count down till October, when I get to see my peeps again!!!
well i better go, hope you liked the update and all the emoticons i just found them, and im diggin them!! sorry for the overuse, but my end of blog advice will be, try to embrace them.. because you may be seeing a whole lot more of them!!
