So yet another early start but we did get breakfast today much to mike n dad's happiness. We took a bus tour to Delphi where according to the Greeks it was the centre of the Earth and Appollos sanctuary. This was recommended to me and I am so glad we went. It was spectacular! A beautiful drive through the mountains passing the lakes that provide water to cities and towns hidden among the mountains. Our guide brace us some interesting Greek myths and tales involving the birth of Appollos and Artemis. We then toured the sanctuary which was immense, beautiful history amazing views and excellent exercise climbing lots of steps.
We then visited the museum and learnt about the types of offerings people used to bring to Appollos to gain advice and insight. There answers were usually very ambiguous.
After this out coach dropped us in a local village of Delph band we wandered the shops looking at the crafts and stumbled across a fab restaurant called The Telescope. This cafe was Greek to the core the owner welcomed us and said sit and enjoy the view. To which we did as it was lovely spanning across the fields through mountains to the sea. He served us beer and catered to everything we needed. Made delicious sandwiches and toasties and was incredibly reasonable in price. Drinks and snacks for three people came to 22 euros we were stuffed and enjoying relaxing so much almost missed our coach pick up to return to Athens. Definitely my top sight so far Delphi is spectacular.
