The fresh autum air!
New zealand has now fallin into its autum, as the leaves begin to turn red, yellow and orange as the start to fall the fresh morning air and days getting shorter. The temperature deffiatly dropping, you learn this quickly if sleeping in the tent for the week! A blue sky day with afew clouds apearing, walking up at 7 i decided to make the most of the weather and walk to the huka falls, already seeing them but far nicer walking to them parrellel to the beautiful river. A river perfect for canoeing kayaking and fishing along with a natural hot spring along the way that people were enjoy on this cooler morning. As i took photos of the falls i was yet again happy to be watching the natural processes of erosion take place. Then i decided to walk to the arata dam a further 7km to time it for the 12 o-clock gates opening, A pleasant walk trhough bush and forested areas, making it in time for the flood gates to open, where i stop on the brigde and looked down as the water flooded the gorge once again. Then the 12km walk back to the backpackers.
It was a really nice day just taking the time to walk to these places is what has really made me smile to and appreciating the scenary i am walking towards.
