Glow worm caves- very special
From deep cove last nyte to now te anua a small town but lovely scenary. This morning i went on a 2 hour trip acrros the lake, to the famous glow worm caves! It is a big tourist attraction and im trying to avoid that but i was so glad to go on this trip. The 20 minut crusie over the lake to where the caves are, we got a small talk about the caves and the glow worms and from there we headed in small groups into the caves. Th caves with a river flowing through it and the errosional features this creates along with somewaterfalls, it made me smile once again. Then into the little boat witch is moved using chains that someone pulls along through the cave. Into complete darknes and ocmplete silence, lit up by these incredable blue dots....the glow worms once again took my breath away, just to see so many and be so close to them at certain parts of the 10-15minute trip in the cave. It was one of those incredable moments of silence where everyone was just in "aw" about these amaizing creatures.
From there i met up with some family friends and we drove to the famous milford sound.... i couldnt stop smiling the whole way, just this natural environment that surronds you. Along the way we stopped to do afew walks and the vegetation is amazing trees covered with moss, there own natural carpets. The drive to milford is beautiful, the closer you get to milford sound the steep steep rock faces and mountains begin to fill you eyes as the water poors down the rock, ice and snow caped mountains, large valleys and all the sines of glaciers. The tunnel through to milford; dark with rock on either side water pouring down- it has been dug through the mountains, once out met with green vegetation continuous waterfalls and a windy road bringing you donw into milford sound! just breathtaking once again. i really wanted to see the ocntrast between doubtfull and milford. milford being so much smaller but already looking just as breathtaking.
The rain poored down howver this makes the place look incredable, the waterfalls are like you cant believe! We checked into the backpackers we were staying at and luckily there had been a cancelation so i had a bed for the next 3 nights!
and from the glow worms to milford sound... i think i am onto something just as special!
(sorry for the lack of geographical description in this blog it will come when i get more time)
