We got up for a busy day in the city. I had arranged to meet up with Holly and Belty so they were getting the train to Melbourne city. We met them by the river at 2pm; It was so good to see them!! It had been 2 and a half years since I had last seen them! We grabbed some baguettes and took a stroll along the river to catch up! Holly and Belty told me about their new life in Oz. It sounds amazing! Such a good lifestyle!
We headed to the Melbourne Aquarium after. Holly had got us discount tickets to help us save the pennies! :) I loveddd the aquarium! I'm a big kid anyway do I loved aquariums and zoos!! But it was brilliant to see some Australian sea life this time! We saw loads of penguins, sharks and cool looking fish!! There was even a massive ray that was bigger than me! I got to hold a starfish which I was pretty happy about. But I'm sure I'll get the chance to hold more as we travel further up the coast.
After the aquarium, we took some photos of us together by the river. Of course, we made sure there was a ballet pose for old times sake!!
We then decided to head somewhere for a drink. It was a Sunday, and Sunday sessions are big in Australia. Everyone goes out on a Sunday drinking in a bar listening to live music. Sounds like my perfect Sunday! I wish I could bring that back to the UK. Oh, and the sun!
We found a cool little bar on the river. Belty kindly bought us drinks and we chilled by the river enjoying the sun. After our drink, Holly and Belty had to leave to get their train home. We said bye which was so sad!! Wish we were staying longer in Melbourne so we could see them for longer! But I'm sure I'll be back again! :)
We headed back to the hostel to cook dinner and get ready to go out for a night out. On tonights menu was spaghetti bolognese.. Something to compete with mothers ;) We then headed up to our room to get ready. Siobhan had a date the next day so she decided to stay in and wash her hair. Me and Hannah got on the goon and went out with Ian from our hostel. We jumped on a tram and went to St Kilda. When we got there, we went to a bar/club called hotel esplanade. It was soooo cool! There was a live band playing and it was pretty busy, despite it being a Sunday. We shared a jug of cider and two guys came over to talk to us. They were from Jersey in the UK. They joined our table and we had some drinks with them. When the club shut at 1am, we left in search of another bar that was still open. One of the guys left, but the other one called Elliot came with us. He could barely walk at this point. We found a bar and had a jäger bomb then we got a taxi back to our hostel to have some more drinks before going out in the city.
We drank in the hostel until 4am. We gained an extra 2 guys who were English too. At 4am I thought it was pretty unlikely we were going to go out, but no - we went out!! We all headed to a bar about 5/10 minutes walk away. We walked in and it was dark and dead. A random guy started talking to Elliot by the bar and we soon learned that it was a gay bar!!! Haha! But we thought we'd stay as there was an awesome guy on a guitar singing. Wow, did he have a set of chords on him!
We stayed there till 7am dancing away to the live music! We were the only ones dancing in there!! I had a go at pole dancing which I was shocking at. I now have grazes on my knee to show for it!! Lol! The boys had a go and were really good - completely showed me up!
We finally decided to leave at 7am. When we stepped outside it was actually hot outside!! We went and got a greasy maccy d's breakfast to sort our lives out and got back to the hostel at 7.45am. Yuck!!! We had such a good night though :) And such a great day!!! :D
