Day 2 - Trek in the Jungle
We woke up feeling pretty bleary eyed after a bad nights sleep and headed outside to join the rest of the group who were already all up. Shock. We had a good breakfast which was sweet toast with egg and a cup of coffee. Just what I needed!
We sat and waited for the elephant to arrive for his bath. When it came, we were given buckets and stiff brushes to wash the elephant which was so much fun! The French couple who we were with took it as a good opportunity to have a big water fight. Brilliant!
After we washed the elephant, we carried on trekking. After about an hour of trekking, we arrived at a beautiful waterfall. You could slide down the waterfalls which was awesome!!
After we ate some lunch at the waterfall, some of our group went home so there were now 7 of us left. We carried on walking but unfortunately 2 people in the group had to get a bus up the mountain so it was just me and Hannah with 3 boys walking the rest of the way. This was the hardest part of the trek so far as it was all steeply uphill. We walked past some village tribes on the way up the mountain and saw some cute puppies.
When we eventually got to the top absolutely exhausted, we grabbed another beer and got shown to our bamboo hut which would be our home for the night. The beds in this place had better mattresses so we were very happy at the prospect of finally having a decent nights sleep!
The locals cooked us dinner again inside our hut which we ate on the floor with candles lit around us. ItRomantic nice! Romantic dinner with the group! However one of the guys in our group, Chris, decided to buy a bottle of rum and the night went downhill from there.
After dinner, we all went out onto the terrace which had the most beautiful mountain views ever! We sat chatting and drinking more rum under the stars by the wooden fire. Me and Chan decided it would be fun to participate in some drunken gymnastics. Doing forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands and headstands on a bamboo floor which was suspended in the air. I had a GREAT time. Don't think my back did though, as I had many deep scratches covering it.
After quite a lot of rum later, we headed off to our boudoir for some good shut eye!! The hardest part of the trek was over!!!!! And we were glad it would be all downhill tomorrow :)
