We managed to only get 1 hours sleep as we were feeling really jetlagged and had to be up at 05:30am as a coach was picking us up from the hotel at 06:30am to take us to the floating market.
We packed our backpacks as we were leaving to get the overnight train to Chiang Mai in the evening. As we were waiting to get the lift downstairs to check out of the hotel the inevitable happened... I managed fall over and land on my back like a turtle as my bag was SO heavy. Hannah was in hysterics wetting herself laughing as I couldn't get myself up off the floor and resembled an ant on its back.
The bus was late picking us up from our hotel and no sooner had we been on the bus for 5 minutes and Hannah says 'I feel sick' so I start shouting at the bus driver 'my friend is ill' just as Hannah's being sick into her handbag. Niiiiiiiiice.
We pulled over at a hotel so Hannah could clean herself up and empty her handbag of sick. Unfortunately, the bag was a gonner!
We got back on the bus and continued our journey to the floating market. We stopped on the way at a butterfly and orchid farm where I got to test out my new flashy camera on the butterflies.
The floating market was amazing! Definitely the best thing we did during our time at Bangkok. You go down the river in a boat where you can buy things from boats. There were little old ladies selling food, clothing and souvenirs out of their boats. I tried mango with sticky rice, noodles and coconut ice cream.
We headed back to Bangkok and on the way we stopped off at a snake show which was amazing. We even got a cobra put around our necks. We were petrified!
When we got back to Bangkok we popped back to our hotel to grab our backpacks and headed over to the train station to catch our train to Chiang Mai. When we got to the station, we were rushing to get our train and unfortunately for me.. the toilet roll I had stolen from our hotel for 'emergencies' fell out of my handbag and rolled across the station floor infront of everyone! There were about 100 people sat on the floor who saw and the Thai train attendants were all laughing. Oh good. I literally nearly died of embarrassment!
We found our lovely 'budget' train carriage. We had a top and bottom bunk bed and opposite there was a vacant top and bottom bunk bed. We had been worrying all day about who would be sitting opposite us thinking it would be a weird old Thai man or a ladyboy. But luckily, two young English boys came down and sat opposite us. We were SO relieved!!! And by the look on their faces, they were too.
In the end, we spent the whole night chatting and drinking beers on our beds whilst everyone else on our carriage slept.
We arrived in Bangkok after the most bumpiest nights sleep of my life!! We checked into our hotel and chilled by the pool for the day and later on we went to the night market. We found this cool bar/restaurant which had a live band and danced at our tables as we ate! It was brilliant!
