17th November -
We got to luang prabang the next day, after a horrendous journey with many bumps and horn beeping throughout the night, and found our guesthouse which would be our new home for the next few nights.
We were knackered from the journey so we had a team nap before we headed out to explore the town later that evening.
We went for a romantic dinner by the Mekong river where I decided to order a fresh salad which turned out to be a hot papaya salad!! The waiters found it hilarious as I was struggling to eat the hot chilli salad which was the opposite to what I wanted! They quickly changed it to a tomato salad after seeing my face.
After dinner, we took a stroll through the night market where i bought a cute little brown dress and a gold flower bangle, and then we came across a bar called utopia where we heard all the travellers hang out. It was awesome! We sat down at a table and ordered drinks and shortly after we started chatting to some Aussies who were sat on the table next to us.
They invited us to join them in a game of Ring of Fire which I knew would be dangerous, but we accepted their offer. About an hour or so later we were all pretty drunk and we were told the bar was shutting so we had to leave! The time was 11.30pm! Apparently all the bars in Luang Prabang shut at 11.30pm and the only place still open was....a bowling alley?!?
So we all went to the bowling alley and when we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find that they sold alcohol! Fenning decided to buy a bottle of Lion King whiskey and so we carried on drinking the night away. We all decided to have a couple of games of bowling too, which I was extremely competitive at. But unfortunately I lost despite my best efforts.
After some more drunken gymnastics at the bowling alley, we were told to leave at 3am.. So we all climbed in a Tuk Tuk and headed back to the guesthouses. Fenning tried his luck with the driver and asked if he could drive the Tuk Tuk.. The guy said he could drive it off road so he took us to a dirt track where Fenning gave it a spin. A few minutes later, Fenning told the driver that he is a professional so he let him drive the Tuk Tuk on the road!!!! So Fenning drove us back to our guesthouse safe and sound. It was actually probably the best Tuk Tuk ride we have ever had.
