Hey everyone!!
I know its been a few weeks since I added an update and I am sorry for that!
Been a crazy few weeks though! I finished working for Dukes Financial Services Aust about 2 weeks ago after they said they wouldn't be able to sponsor me to come back out here, which was fair enough but they took so long getting round to telling me that I was pretty pissed off by the time I left.
Anyhow the week I left we all went to the races (corporate style paid for by the boss hee hee!) and drank free champagne all afternoon in the sun. I even managed to win using the boss' money too! ha ha - revenge is sweet. Then on the friday we finished early and played cricket in the boardroom while drinking more champagne (ohh la la).
I'd decided that since I would be leaving Australia pretty soon I should see a bit more before I left. Having been slogging away in the office in the hope they'd sponsor me i felt I owed them nothing and so left pretty soon after they told me.
Before I flew I went to Caulfield races with some of the soccer lot which was agreat day out, drinking cheap sparkling wine and getting all dressed up, then going into general admission with all the other students/travellers!! great way to party!
I flew to Perth about 10 days ago and only had one night there before heading up the West Coast via the Pinacles, Monkey Mia, Shark Bay, Kalbarri, Eagles Bluff, Coral Bay and Exmouth.
The weather was excellent and we saw many gorgeous beaches, gorges, and even went through Hutts Province which is its own country! very bizarre.
I snorkelled with Manta Rays which was incredible, spotted whales, turtles and sharks, held pythons, went sandboarding and even abseiled forward down a cliff which was pretty scary (jumping out a plane was easier!!).
The group was great fun and we had a good few parties, especially when we slept outback at a sheep station in the middle of nowhere!
WA is incredibly beautiful and very rugged. I would love to go back there some day and spend more time exploring it. It is so vast that the whole of Europe would fit in it, yet the population is only 2 million, with 1.6 of that living in Perth!!
Once we got back to Perth we had another big party (cheap booze when you're a backpacker!!) and the next day a few of us went to Fremantle to have a coffee on the chilled Cafe Street and then explore the Fremantle Prison. I found that fascinating, we had two tours. One about the prison and one about great escapes. Amazing!! Such horrible conditions for a prison that only closed 15 years ago. Esp for the women.
Anyhow then it was time to fly back to Perth where a knackered and slightly ill Welsh man picked me up (i flew into the airport that was an hour out of perth to save money...ha ha!)
Today I have been catching up on sleep, washing and generally sorting things out for the next fews weeks. It is going to be a mad time...Derby Day Races, Melbourne Cup Day BBQ, leaving drinks, more leaving drinks and then some goodbyes.
Next Saturday I fly to New Zealand, leaving Australia after 10 months. Although I am pretty sure it won't be the last time I'm here!!
Miss you all and looking forward to returning home, loads of love, me xxx
