Liz's Travels
Hey!
Well its been an eventful week but I'm still jobless!
The AFL match was interesting...they have 8 refs!! what is that all about? But we got into the spirit of it all and held up our "GOAL" and "SUPERGOAL" banners at the appropriate times (having asked the Aussie next to us when that was!!)
Then on Tuesday it was the Queens Baton Party in the centre, and so I went with Nic and we got a spot close to the action, no not to see the baton...because Izzy from neighbours was there!! Her band were pretty good, and I got some amusing pics which I will get round to putting up...
Wednesday was the opening ceremony for the games, and if you saw it on tv and thought it was good it was pretty impressive watching it from the river bank here. Incredible fire work show and thousands of people watching! Kate from Adelaide and her bro came down so we went out after and met a load of Melbourne rugby guys which provided a lot of amusement!!
Thursday was the qualifying rugby 7's at the telstra dome which had an awesome atmosphere, despite feeling severely on our own when we cheered for England! Uganda put up a good fight aswell and beat Tonga!!
I spent Friday selling tickets for the comedy club...perhaps the worst job I have ever had, and have promptly quit today, think I would rather be jobless and pennyless! The final crunch came when I was stopped by a council officer and told I would get fined (no one told me it was illegal!!)
Friday night cheered me up as I managed to blag free tickets (along with Chris & Rich, two fellow English supporters) to the final of the rugby 7s!! Now that was amazing, a packed out stadium, New Zealand vs Oz, England vs Fiji and then the final which turned out to be England vs New Zealand! Yes we lost to NZ but it was still amazing and we beat Fiji so I left with a huge grin (plus we were pretty close to the Fijians warming up... ;-) )
After that the weekend turned into a pretty heavy on with St Patricks day & the six nations...so reality hits again this morning and I realise I have to find work, stop spending & stop drinking!!
Hope everyone is ok, good luck Plymouth in the Varsity today...whip their asses!! (then I can bug Rich, the ex marjon guy, about it!!)
Loadsa love, liz xx
