Culross (pronounced KOO-Russ) is a village where you feel you’re in 17th century Scotland. Several films have been shot here that invoke Scottish villages of times past. Captain America: the first avenger and the Outlander television series are shot here. It was a cute Scottish village on the Firth of Forth. Culross served as a port city on the Firth of Forth and is believed to have been founded by Saint Serf during the 6th century.
We strolled through the streets and just enjoyed the scenery.
Sir George Bruce, who in the late 16th century, figured out a way to build coal mines beneath the waters of the Firth of Forth, enabled the town to flourish. There is a “palace” but I don’t know how it got “palace “ status. It looked like a nice house. We strolled the cobblestone streets and saw the Abbey and the Parish which was kind of cool. The earliest tombstone we saw was 1725 but we couldn’t make out most of the dates.
