Hi all, making good use of the iPod and free wifi at the mo!!
Had a fantastic day yesterday, walked round santa Theresa and Lapa and found a stunning cathedral which was humongous. Afterwards we got on the metro to the botanical gardens (pictures to follow soon). It was beautiful, the highlight were the monkeys just hanging about all over the place.
We got lost later on which was nice......! Walked for about 6 hours in total, great preparation for Inca Trail. We all went to a club in Lapa at about midnight it was hilarious, the dancing is something else. It was a cross between bashment and samba. We went with a big group of fellow travellers, a couple from new York, couple from London, a couple from Australia and a guy from Newcastle who lives in Wakefield.....random. Also, everyone is bloody mental, seriously, MENTAL.
We've just moved from our lovely double into a dorm eek will let you know how that goes.
Not sure what we're doing today yet but the England v USA match is definately getting viewed, plan is possibly to find some live Samba music tonight with the other gringos.
Language barrier is proving interesting I've taken
to speaking Spanish and hoping for the best. I bumped into some guy in the underground station and my Portuguese options were hello or thank you, neither seemed suitable so I just smiled. He thought I was nuts.
Ok off to the supermarket to get supplies for
tea as we rinsed the budget yesterday.......
Lots of love liz n adds
