While Andy went on a 2 hour flight I unpacked while watching neighbours, home & away and shortland street. I then received a visit from 'Lucy' the CTC cat! Yea! She is was very skinny so I thought it best to feed her (and to make sure she had a reason to come back). Don't tell Andy but I fed her some of his tuna hee hee!
Andy came back around 1, we made some lunch then went into Hamilton. We had a wander round the town centre & shops - was just like any town centre really. I bought some cat food, cat nip mice and a fleecy blanket (I drew the line at a $40 cat basket! She can sleep in a box!)
We then went to Hamilton Gardens. Expecting it to be a bit like a park I was surprised how beautiful it was. And gardens made a pleasant change from lakes & mountains! There were loads of different style gardens - tropical, English country, kitchen, back yard (which included dandelions!) and then Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Tudor and modern. And it wasn't just the plants and trees that were done in that style, they had built small buildings in the style around the gardens too. Was a nice afternoon - and again completely free. As I've travelled around I've never once paid for parking or to use the loo, and with the exception of the boat trip & plane trip (plus my accommodation, food & car) I've spent very little money yet I've seen and done loads!
Back at base Andy planned the routes for his flight while I planned where to go next. We were joined by Lucy cat who liked her food (friskies with fish), cat treats and kitty blanket, she was less impressed with the toy mice (guess she's used to catching real nice!). We cooked burgers (on the BBQ) and sweet potato wedges for dinner. I checked my emails around 8 and had an email from the Australian High Commission - my visa has been granted!! Brisbane here I come!!! Just need to work out how to get Lucy cat there now!!
