While Andy went off to the airport I did some washing & planned our next adventure. He has a day off so we're going to away for a night

After some brunch and saying goodbye to Lucy cat we were on our way north. It had been a sunny day in Hamilton & the sun continued to shine as we made our way to Auckland. We decided to swap the hire car from the budget tin can I'd chosen to a focus which wouldn't blow over in the winds forecast for later

We the got caught in the Auckland rush hour so it was nearly 6 & getting dark by the time we were heading out of the city which was a shame as the views as we drove up & over the mountains & along the coast w mere probably fantastic!

The moon was bright so we did stop at a town called Waipu to see it glistening on the ocean & to look at the stars

It was about 8.30 when we arrived in Paihia where we were spending the night. We checked into our motel and went down to the harbour where the restaurants were, however, even though it was Friday night, it being winter meant they were all closed/closing!!

Was I going to spend my second Friday night with just a banana for dinner?

Luckily we managed to find a bar which did burgers & fries so we didn't starve!
