Compared to the last few days a fairly dull one today. After unpacking & repacking the car I headed off to the Queenstown sky ride, a cable car/gondala which carries you 300/400m up to 'Bobs Peak' a mini mountain overlooking Queenstown. Luckily for me the rain hadn't moved in so the views of lake wakatipu (the 77km long lake upon which Queenstown is situated) and surrounding mountains were quite good early this morning.
I left there around 10 and drove 30km out of Queenstown (actually I drove 57km as I missed the turning but meant I went to the most inland town in NZ, garston!) My intended destination was a look out called Devils Staircase where there were great views of the southern side of the lake wakatipu (and more mountains)
And then it was time to return the hire car & head to the airport & head back to Auckland.
Andy picked me up from the airport & we headed back to Hamilton for Mexican food - and the hottest chilli chocolate mousse ever! We then went back to his base. Because it's got colder the last few nights Andy has found himself adopting one of the CTC cats, he even made it a little basket to sleep in - so cute (even if it was with one of my pillows!) Hopefully she'll put an appearance in tonight!
